Palm kernel shell are fractions left after the nut has been removed after crushing in the Palm Oil mill. palm kernel shell are a fibrous material and can be easily handled in bulk directly from the product line to the end use. Large and small palm kernel shell fractions are mixed with dust-like fractions and small fibres.

The Palm Oil Plant (Elais Guinensis), considering its three different varieties Durà, Pesipherà and Tenerà, produces an edible fruit similar to an apricot which has inside a nut. During the crude palm kernel shell process the fruit’s flesh is melted through a steaming treatment. The residual nuts are further mechanically crashed to extract the seeds or Kernels. The crashed shells are called Palm Kernel Shells, a virgin biomass with a high calorific value.

Due to high calorific value of palm kernel shell, this commodity has been one of the key biomass material in order to replace fossil fule for steam power plant, however due to more and more study conducted, it value has been elevated. Palm kernel shell are a highly efficient source of energy and do not compete with the animal or human food chain. This makes it a very attractive alternative energy product. Palm Kernel Shell produces far less pollution than traditional fossil fuel and is competitively priced with coal.

We all use energy and produce a carbon footprint that harms the planet we live on, but we can also be part of a solution without changing our lives. By using a renewable energy source such as palm kernel shell we can contribute to a cleaner and greener environment.

Clean & Green Energy Solution

Palm kernel shell is the waste product of palm oil production and as an energy source burns clean producing little carbon. Palm Kernel Shell does not contribute to acid rain making this energy product a green solution for those companies that desire to reduce pollution and present a greener image.
